Join us in recognizing Sexual Assault Awareness Month this April.
APRIL 15: Bring your mat and join us at Center of Gravity at 5:30 pm for an hour of gentle, trauma-informed yoga. Social distancing and masks are required for the event.
APRIL 22: Join us virtually on April 22nd for our annual Prayer Vigil. This year’s Prayer Vigil includes prayers from local faith leaders. The vigil will be recorded and will be available at projecthorizon.org/vigil on April 22nd.
APRIL 29: Our annual Speak Out event will take place at 5:30 pm on April 29th on the lawn of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Survivors will have the opportunity to share their stories. Social distancing and masks are required for the event.
ALL MONTH: The Elemental Grounding Series videos are 15 minute guided visualizations based on the four Earth elements of Water, Fire, Air, and Earth, created by our very own Creative Counselor, Michele Zehr. Feel free to watch all or part of the videos as a way to ground yourself. The videos can be viewed here.
ALL MONTH: Developed in partnership with W&L’s Meghan Kelley ‘21, the Wellness Video Series are tools to help you de-stress, focus, and practice mindfulness. They will be released on our IGTV throughout April and they are available to view here.
Staff Spotlight: Gloria Fennell
Every month, we'll be introducing a new member of our staff. This month's staff spotlight features Gloria Fennell, our Housing Coordinator.
Q: What did you do before joining the Project Horizon team?
A:I worked as a water treatment plant operator for the Maury Service Authority. They service Rockbridge county.
Q: What does your role entail?
A: I am the Housing Coordinator. My job entails finding clients who are homeless due to DV/SV. This can be immediate, emergency housing or finding more permanent housing.
Q: What is a fun fact about yourself?
A: I was a Navy airplane mechanic!

Congratulations to PH staff member Nolan Zunk
and Dr. Stephanie Sandberg whose film, Intimate Violence, featuring the work of Project Horizon was named a finalist in the Vancouver Independent Film Festival. The film was also selected as an Official Selection of the Five Continents International Film Festival and
Cannes World Film Festival.
